Friday Feet - August 26, 2011

amy - "My parents came up over the weekend for a dog show. I showed Axel both days and he earned 4 points for the weekend! YAY!! I also got my birthday present from them, and water/shock/dust/freeze proof camera! I thought I'd test it in the pool, and look! It works! ^^ So I can drop it, freeze it, drown it and cover it with dirt and it'll be fine! It's perfect for me! Haha! "

emily - "mushu decided to get in the middle of this week's crafting ventures. Between couple sessions, working, and crafting, there has been little to no idle time. it's amazing!"jenny - "My feet are so tired this is all they want to do when they come home at night. Most days I'm working 13 plus hours and only 5 or so are paid. Good thing its so fun!"kasey - "Thunder storm power outage friday! Husband and I ate dinner by candlelight and played some skip-bo. Not 30 seconds after i took this picture did the lights snap back on. :) great night!"

Kent at 9 months - Modesto, CA

Yet again, Kent has done some growing! This time, he has a mouthful of teeth to show for it! After Desmond was set free to go play on the playground, Kent showed his skills and was easy as pie to photograph. All smiles in the grass in his adorable Superman shirt and converse shoes, there was nothing that could go wrong with this kid! In just a few more months, we'll be celebrating his first birthday, and can't wait to have some more cuteness to show off then :) He threw in some cutesy bashful faces... Showed off his avid thumbsucking skills...But didn't forget at all to be super cute and smiley the whole way through. Check out those converse, this kid has style!

"let's do 52" - wk 33

I've been trying to find thing to keep me busy and AWAY from the computer for large amounts of time during the day.  It was getting pretty bad, I'm not going to lie.  I started with planning just one craft project to start off with and have rolled out a list of nearly a dozen.  OY!  So far, so good.  On top of that, I've been trying to keep up with my Potter reading.  Leisure time is turning in to crazy time!

Friday Feet - August 19, 2011

amy - "This is diesel, our new kitten! Luke got him for me  for my birthday. He loves me! This week has been very busy with work and chores and such. Diesel will keep us on our toes I'm sure!"
emily - "i've finally gotten to let loose and get my crafty side going.  and once i determined ONE project, a snowball effect happened, and i've ended up with nearly a dozen!  a reason to keep me busy and away from the computer sounds excellent to me!"
jenny - "First of all I love these shoes. They were a steal! Even though I never wear purple. I'm currently waiting for friends in oldtown r ville with emi."
kasey - "Dog sitting for my girlfriend Laura! Brought Papa over to entertain Bailey, the huge lab/husky mix. They play together really well, and have the tendency to make more noise then rocks in a blender. But they're adorable and I love them. :)

Desmond is Seven - Modesto, CA

A few weeks back I headed out to Modesto for some cousinly hang out time as well as 3 important photo sets.  One of those three just happened to be for Desmond's 7th birthday photos.  After a fashion show of wardrobe choices, we headed across the street to the park to do some photos oh him, as well as next week's blog post of Kent.  We picked a few of the best shady spots to work in and let Des do his thing.  Although blinded by the light at some points, he did a pretty dang good job!
We decided to try a new spot, just to add some background variety.  The sun was rather bright off the concrete, so here's Des doing his best model look.  Or just trying to express to us the playground with Lorelai sounded SO much more exciting :)
a quick lie down in the grass, and then he was set free to run about the playground, like 7 year olds are SUPPOSED to do... not take anymore silly picture.  That's okay, it became Kent's turn soon after.  You'll see him next week though, so see you soon!

"let's do 52" - wk32

This past week feels like a whirlwind of events starting from last Saturday onward.  Day by day, it went from recital portraits, to second shooting in South Lake Tahoe, to smug mug meet ups, to hanging out at the post office to mail prints to clients.  Wednesday, dad and I took the day and headed out to the WPPI Road Trip in San Jose.  A mini version of the trip we took to Vegas last February, I was hoping to bring something home (in my brain) that I could bring to my business.  I'm pretty excited to say that I brought MORE than one thing home in my brain, as well as physically.  At one of the booths, I signed up for a mailing list and was able to bring this friend home with me.  A fun stuffed animal version of the "what the duck?" comic strip now resides next to my computer to keep me company while I take my new knowledge of how to speed up my editing workflow in lightroom (that means a potentially faster processing time for you clients!)

Amy & Luke Engagement Session - Reno, NV

This past December I headed out one night to meet up with a friend locally just to hang out for a little bit. Next thing I knew, I got a picture message on my phone from Amy. No words, just her left hand with some bling on it! Luke had gone and popped the question, and she was beyond thrilled. Half a year has gone by, as well as about half a dozen skype conversations full of wedding talk, and here we are! At the end of last month I took a little weekend trip to visit Amy & her crew at her house in the Reno area. Saturday afternoon, after a lovely home made breakfast, we headed out to do their engagement photos at Marilyn's Pond. The night before was full of rain, thunder & lightening, but we survived! The weather was great, and the location was amazing!
An engagement session with these two would NOT have been complete without their two dogs, Rue & Ellie. If we had included ALL animals in their house, we would of had dogs, frogs, a cat, a rat... and i'm SURE something else that I'm forgetting. I love bridges about as much as I love using stairs in photos. Rue was a little weary of it though with his skinny little legs! I told you I was saving my ampersand for something special to kick it off!
I had to save my ABSOLUTE favorite for last. I made them walk up and down that spot so many times, but we got the shot!I'm super excited for these two to tie the knot in a few years once Amy is done with nursing school! We've been through a LOT since meeting each other in 6th grade when I moved to Loomis, I can't wait to see the journey they're going to take from here! Thank you two SO much to letting me do your photos for you. I had a BLAST! p.s. big thanks to our dog wrangler/noise maker Jenny!

"let's do 52" - wk31

Within the past week, I have done 4 different shoots, and even though I had so many photos to choose from for today, I just couldn't bring myself to show off the faces of blog posts yet to come - sounds like a christmas story ghost almost! So here is what I have to show for myself. This would be the backdrop of Amy & Luke's engagement session from last saturday in Nevada. Super weird to see something rather landscape-y, but I hope it gets you excited to see the full post coming next week!

Family Portraits - Rancho Cordova, CA

A little over a week ago I met up with Vera, her husband Adam, and their five little kiddos to do a family portrait session. Back in October, with their youngest child at just 7 months old, their family recieved a call while on vacation about the possibility of an adoption for them. Fast forward to now, their family has officially become a family of seven! After completing the legal adoption documents, the family took the final step in completing their family by planning a family sealing session at the LDS Sacramento Temple. Vera contacted me about doing this extra special family session for them, and there was no way that I could say no! Dressed in white, we battled the heat and created some portraits to document this special day that would last for years to come.
We started everything off with some individual portraits of the older 3 girls while the little ones were getting dressed. We did our best to find some shady spots to make these girls look fabulous in!

Each of the kids were photographed outside in front of the Temple as well, and boy do these next little two look excited as ever!
Being a Tuesday, I was very excited we didn't have to battle any wedding parties for the coveted pedestal spot to show the entire temple in the background. The only think working against us was the sun!
These next two are probably so closely tied for my favorite, I just had to share them both!
I'm so glad I got to work with this crew, and I hope the rest of their day was even more amazing than our portrait session. I'm so glad they chose Sacramento Temple over Oakland so that I could photograph them! Although, I would of taken the drive to Oakland for them if they asked! I can't wait to see these little ones grow through out the years to come!

"let's do 52" - wk30

I realized once I left for Reno this past Friday evening, that I had not done anything to get the "let's do 52" blog post ready for the end of the week (aka saturday). Well, two days later, here it is! I've spent this week doing a handful of things photographically, but I was also at a loss to get back to my crafting roots. I decided to embark on a project to keep me doing something that was not requiring staring at a computer or television, and also to revive my sad little craft blog. A project was formed, and last week I had it going pretty well for a few days. Hopefully even with all things that are up and coming this week (portrait sessions on tuesday & saturday plus second shooting again in Tahoe with Doug on Sunday) I will be able to get SOMETHING done.
