Britt & Nathan Engagement Session - Loomis, CA

We had been Facebook messaging for months and when I finally got to meet these two, I was reassured that everything was going to be excellent! Britt was referred to me from someone I went to high school with, and after meeting a few weeks ago, she became my first bride for 2012! We met up one morning at the start of the month to do her engagement session with fiance Nathan, and boy am I glad we chose to go earlier versus later. Great light, cooler temperatures, and nobody around!
She showed me a picture on her phone of her wedding dress, and with Nate in a tux and model faces like these, their wedding day is going to be STUNNING. Just sayin ;)
Total favorite. Absolutely love the pink & black combo they chose!
Yet again, I have broken this session in to two parts, because the next one is just so fun and so "them" with their cowboy boots and hats. Can't say much more since I don't want to spoil the fun!

Jenni & Jim Squaw Valley Wedding - North Lake Tahoe, CA

Finally got the time to go through some of my photos from the past few months of the weddings I have second shot with Doug Miranda in Tahoe, and FINALLY able to pull myself together to get a blog post going! Jenni & Jim were the first wedding I did with Doug back in July, and boy was it an experience for me! We started out at a small little pond for the ceremony, walked through the Olympic Resort area, photographing the whole way to the reception area before the party could begin! Here is a small sampling of some of my favorite photos from the day!

"let's do 52" - wk38

Not a whole lot going on this week, that's for sure. A lot of driving, regular amounts of working, and not enough time spent shooting! Although, I did find myself in front of the camera this week for a friend of mine, so I guess we'll have to see if any of those photos turned out. In the mean time, have a fabulous weekend, and I hope to have some new things up for you to see soon!

Alaze Dance Portraits - Sacramento, CA

Every year, for I don't know HOW long, my dad has done the annual recital portraits for our dance studio. The past few years I have slowly taken over doing the photographing part while he does the viewing process. After the portraits were done and delivered, I was approached by one of the Grandma's in one of the classes and she mentioned how she wanted to get a session of Alaze in her dance costume. We set up a session for a Thursday evening after her dance class and headed down the road to William Land Park for a fun little session in the park. Dressed up in her "Goatherd" costume, we wandered the park and found a few neat little areas to shoot in! The outdoor ampitheather stage was an excellent backdrop with the stone wall. Loved it! Alaze was pretty determined to get a photo with the geese, and boy did we get quite a few! As well, she may have changed the song lyrics from "lonely goatherd" to "lonely geese herd" ;)

I just love her two missing front teeth :) Totally reminds me of my missing teeth days when I was little!

By total luck and coincidence, today is also Alaze's 7th birthday! She is one of the sweetest girls ever, and an extremely positive outlook. I've never heard her say a harsh word to anyone as long as I have known her, which made for a superb photo session as well. I can't wait to watch her grow over the years as a dancer and an even more amazing individual. Happy birthday my dear!

Sac SmugMug ShootOut - Auburn, CA

About a week ago, I attended a model shoot out put on by the Sac SMUG Club on Facebook. Headed up by Nicole, another local photographer, there were a total of 6 different models to photograph including seniors, kids, brides & a formal bridal couple. The weather was odd that evening, so time was a crunch to get all the groups to each person in time. The entire time I kept the 50mm 1.4 on in order to keep myself moving and challenged without using a telephoto lens like I usually do. I made it to 5 of the 6 sets, and here is one of each of my favorite shots from each one!Loved photographing this couple! (surprise, surprise, right?) If I could have, I would have snuck them away from the giant photographer mob scene and photographed them on my own for hours! What I learned is that I am DYING to do a model type shoot on my own. Probably not with as many people, and probably not all in one day either. I might start contacting some people randomly just to get some practice and build my own portfolio. So don't be surprised if you get a random "let's do a shoot!" text from me one of these days :) Listed below are the details as far as make up artists, florist, etc in order of photo appearance.

"let's do 52" - wk37

After a week that included two weddings, a model shoot and what felt like a whole lot of editing and planning going on, it was nice to have a saturday to just relax. I was on munchkin duty for a while, and as always, very entertained by their simple ways. Lorelai was VERY determined to have cereal once we got back to my house, and as soon as we got there, she got her wishes! A day to recharge just in time to head off on to next week full of a little bit more of everything!

Devin - Class of 2012

Last week you saw part 1 of Devin's shoot, which was a more basic senior session. I'll preface this half with a little back story. Devin is a "hoofer", much like myself, and has picked it up as his specialty over the years. He will be graduating this year from Natomas Charter School, which is a school that has a very large focus on perfoming arts. Growing up, I somewhat envied my friends who got to go there, with their focuses on music, dance, painting, you name it! Even some of my previous ballerinas are graduating this year as well! I had Devin bring his tap shoes with him to his senior session, and while things started out pretty basic, in the end I had him moving all over the place to get the perfect shot :) I thought a more structured environment would be great for doing his tap portraits, and what could be better than my favorite Loomis Blue Goose? So many great textures and different levels for sitting, standing and tapping. I tried to get him to pose like Savion Glover, but boy does that man make it look way easier than it really is!I had such a great time photographing Devin both in and out of tap shoes, and was left with a desire to photograph more dancers. So believe me, after watching Devin tap down the stairs of the Blue Goose, there may just be another dancer project in the works! I cannot wait to photograph more seniors throughout the year. It's great to work with kids that are at such a great turning point in their lives. Good luck with the rest of your senior year Devin and class of 2012!

"let's do 52" - wk36

This week has had a large wedding theme to it, and I am not complaining! Between recieving save the date and wedding invites from two very important people from my high school years about their weddings, plus the engagement session for my first bride & groom booking for 2012 this past thursday, I am beyond pumped! Not to mention that in an hour or so, I'll be heading off to Tahoe again for another second shooting extravaganza with Doug. Have I mentioned how much I love my job? Right now, I'm on cloud 9! Have a fabulous weekend everyone :)

Devin - Class of 2012

I have known Devin for what seems like forever, and throughout that whole forever period, he was shorter than me! (readers that don't know, i'm 5'11"... no joke). I did a small chunk of his senior portraits when we had the studio set up for our dance recital portraits, and when I stepped up to photograph him, I nearly had to stand on my toes to do so! We carried on to do a more relaxed outdoor session a week or so ago, and despite the heat (and the insanely packed park) we found some great areas to work in! The park we were at had a small creek area, and before we fought our way down to the rocks, there was this small brick utility type building that proved to be an excellent background.t-shirts and jeans always make for an excellent casual senior portrait session. Especially if they help express exactly how you are at that point in your life! We headed across the road to the other half of the park with a small bridge and wood fence to get some photos of Devin in his suit. I'm sure he was plenty done once we did a few in the first outfit, but he carried onward without a complaint :) Make sure you swing by next week for part 2 of Devin's post. You'll get to see how I really make him work for his session ;) No really, it's right up my alley, and I'm super excited for it! Happy Thursday everyone.

"let's do 52" - wk 35

A photo that, of course, really had nothing to do with ANYTHING, but hey... it is what it is! And when a super adorable almost 7 year old says "you should take a picture of that goose" well, I couldn't help but comply with her suggestion! I'm happy to say that with the push and inspiration of some of my photographer friends I met in Vegas last February (Kelliana, Alej & Katie) I am working up to taking the plunge to have a more professional image for the Freeze Frame branding! I will make everyone VERY aware of it when it happens, so I'm sure you won't miss it ;) This self made logo has served me well since 2009, but the times are a changing, and especially after this week and seeing my next two weeks broadcasted on my calendar, I feel that good things might be coming my way! So stay tuned for new blog posts with sessions in the coming weeks, including that almost seven year old who is a very persuasive little one!

Friday Feet -Sept 2, 2011

Here we are, reaching our final week of feet. Two states, about six countries and 365 days later, we reached our goal. Some of us have served a pretty mundane experience with our year, while others have gone through new steps in life. We've seen celebrations and travel, as well as engagements and work. Even though some of us haven't done a whole lot, we have at least been able to document ourselves together closer as friends. We aren't exactly sure where to go next, or if this project will carry on further, but through all the stress and time crunches, it was well worth it :) Without further aideu, the 52nd week of feet :)

amy - "So Luke and I decided to do some redecorating. We now have an office/sewing/animal room and the spare room is now the hunting room. It's exciting to have my own space to do with as I please. :) moving everything around has been a pain but it's finally coming together. It's not how I like it yet, but it's getting there!"
emily - "this week has been filled with so much work related stuff, its's crazy! two sessions this week, five sets of photos edited, and a business card design that has lead to what could be a fresh new look for Freeze Frame coming soon! I cannot wait to see how everything starts to pan out with these new things that are going to be happening soon!"
jenny - "I'm tending to the garden today barefoot. Probably a bad idea. But anyway the peppers are coming in nicely!"kasey - "On the way to Brussels, Belgium, for the annual Beerfest! Very much excited! Get to see friends that have since moved away an hang out with a few that will soon leave. Weekend will be well spent!"
