"let's do 52" - wk43

Between editing, ordering prints, skype calls & making plans for WPPI 2012, this week had time for very few other things. Most of that involving Halloween costume finishing, birthday party planning & homecoming dress accessory shopping. At the end, there was finally time for some down time with the popular three year old & her brother, who was apparently not a fan of yesterday at all. There was present wrapping, goldfish eating, picture taking, toy story watching & fancy princess bun making. Well, that and some "the cat came up behind me" terror, but she lived to tell the tale. Made for an eventful weekend day, that's for sure!

Krueger Family Portraits - Rocklin, CA

Back at the tail end of September, I recieved a call from an area code I was unfamiliar with. Hesitant, as usual, I answered the phone to be completely surprised. Kim was calling me with the search for a photographer to do a set of family photos for them the upcoming weekend for her parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Their original photographer had cancelled, and somehow she came across my name. Not just any typical family photo session, but a group of 16 ranging from the "orginals" all the way to the great grandkids. Needless to say, I was VERY excited. The following Sunday I loaded up stools and a few chairs from my kitchen and headed out to a local park in Rocklin to meet up with Kim and her crew. Everything ran so smoothly, the day wasn't overwhelmingly hot, and their outfit color range worked so well! We also took the time to do a few family photos for the smaller family groups. These little ones were SO easy to work with. No tears, no sad faces, nothing! This group photo would be the reason why I informed all of Facebook that they should have a 20x24 minimum of their family on their wall! It arrived in the mail and I instantly fell in love with the size of it. It was more than just a photo. At that point, it felt like a piece of wall art.
Looking to have your extended family photo done for the holidays? Send me an email or give me a call! I absolutely love working with large groups! They're totally up there neck & neck with my love for wedding photography :)

Emma & Adam Edgewood Golf Course Wedding - South Lake Tahoe

Emma & Adam's wedding was my last time second shooting with Doug this summer, and it was a great end to it! We met up with the couple at a house with a gorgeous view on Edgewood's property and did pretty much everything before the ceremony. The couple opted for a first look, which was something I have always been wanting to photograph, and hope to do more of in the future. After the first look we headed outside and did the family formals and bridals before walking over to Edgewood's main site for the ceremony & reception to begin. So many personal touches on this wedding made it as beautiful as it could possibly be!

"let's do 52" - wk42

Just from the look of my car, I think it's pretty safe to say the seasons are finally changing! The leaves are turning color and falling, and there has been a few days where I can actually pull my boots out and wear them. Along with seasonal changes, there have been some other business changes that I'm excited to share as soon as they're ready to go! Things are looking to turn for the better at the start of 2012, and I can't wait to move forward with my current as well as new supporters. Thanks to everyone that has supported so far, and I can't wait for the new changes to keep on coming!

Joshua Senior Portraits - Class of 2012 - Auburn, CA

Last month, I met up with another co-worker of my Aunt's in order to do her son's senior portraits. When I spoke to her on the phone, I asked if he had any hobbies he liked to do, sports, etc, so we could try and incorporate those. Once I asked "any pets?" I got an estatic reply of how much he would LOVE to have his dog involved in the session. I met up with them at their home and after a quick outdoors tour, knew that there would be quite a few background opportunites to photograph Joshua with and without his dog. The weather was great and everything went so smoothly! Here is a small sampling from the evening :) Such a cooperative pup!We had planned to involve Joshua's dog, but once we came back in to the patio area from the back yard, his cat decided to make it's debut in to the session!Joshua's mom had set up a little area in front of the bookcase for a couple shots, since he's apparently an avid reader! Luckily we kept this idea close to the end, since we nearly had to tear him away from the books to go outside one more time.
After graduation next summer, Joshua is planning on enlisting in the Military like many of his other family members have done. This last shot was a way to enclose his future plans in to the "now". Everyone (and by everyone I mean those four legged friends too!) was great to work with, and I can't wait to go back next month to do their holiday family photos with their yard all decked out!

Blake & Valerie Edgewood Golf Course Wedding - South Lake Tahoe

Can you guess the date of this wedding? That's right! Doug had me along for his 9-10-11 wedding, and I had a great time! We started off at an amazing house where the guys had their getting ready photos, as well as played some pool. Then we headed across town to where the girls were getting ready. The rain was coming down, but Valerie's spirits were high. Not a single thing could get her down on her big day. To their luck, the clouds parted and they were able to have their outdoor ceremony just as planned. Not to mention there was a fabulous watercolor sunset that created some amazing photos across the lake! The bridal party was ready to get down, and the night was fabulous for such a sweet and awesome couple as Valerie & Blake.
