"let's do 52" - wk 52

Here we are, at the end of another personal "goal" project. Last year it was the overwhelming 365 project, this year is was the one photo per week. Lucky for me, I survived both of them! Not sure if I will have a new project for 2012, but I guess that should be decided soon! With the Christmas holiday come and gone, and today being the FINAL day of 2011, I should mention that some things that I feel are pretty great are about to happen. 2012 is literally right around the corner now and 2011 will be a thing of the past at the blink of an eye. Some pretty great things have happened for me this year, and just for fun, here are some statistics of everything fabulous that I photographed this year:
Kids: 6
High School Seniors: 4
Ballerinas: 15
Families: 7
Couples: 12
Weddings: 8
I had a great year for 2011 being my first official year as a business, and I cannot wait to see where 2012 takes me! HUGE thanks to everyone that has supported me along the way and pushed me to be where I am. Without all of your support both in person and on the web, I could have potentially given up months ago!

"let's do 52" - wk51

Wow, week 51? Can this year REALLY be almost over? Hard to believe it, that's for sure! So many changes have happened in one year alone, but even with changes, the time of year full of traditions is currently upon us. Of course, the holiday traditions with family, but also the gathering of friends and close ones to spend time together. Thursday was the annual "mud football" game put on by my cousin, as well as hoards of people from my dance studio. Well, there was no mud, but it was apparently by far the largest turnout for a football game they have had yet! I spent my time taking pictures from the sidelines - might as well have caught the ball a time or two as well! Great group of people that are a family within itself, and couldn't ask for a better kick off for the holiday season.
Have a fantastic Christmas Eve & Christmas Day with friends, family and loved ones!

"let's do 42" - wk49

Things have been pretty quiet this week. Well, quiet in a post college sort of way. While I watch everyone cram for finals, I'm spending my days editing photo sessions and getting ready for a Christmas show with my dance studio. Oh! And getting exciting things in the mail, planning out the end of the year blog posts and wanting to start an obnoxious countdown for WPPI 2012. Some of these business productive things came thanks to my new photography mentor Raven through the [b]school photo forum. We may be on opposite sides of the country (which happens quite a bit with some of my photo friends that I connect with online!) but she was fantastic to chat with and I cannot wait to bounce ideas off her this coming year with all my changes :)
Sidenote: Yes, my cat is pretty much just as evil as he looks. His days consist mainly of sleeping, growling, and hissing. In a "lather, rinse, repeat" kind of cycle. Had I known he was going to be a punk, and not a sweet kitty, I may have picked a more fitting name for him than Elroy. Then again, probably not. Unless it was "Sweetums" like from The Muppet Show ;)

"let's do 52" - wk48

48 weeks in to the year already? How crazy is that! Well, it's December now, so that means the weather is getting cold, the tree is up, and Christmas is creeping closer day by day. Yesterday I spent the afternoon outside in the cold photographing Santa photos for the Town of Loomis Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting, and today it is nicely contrasted by sitting inside under blankets editing portrait sessions and working on Christmas gifts. Just 4 more "let's do 52" posts until the year is up and it is time for all the changes that 2012 is bringing!

"let's do 52" - wk 47

This week has been a pretty busy one, that's for sure! Between family photo sessions, Thanksgiving dinner, and the crazy black friday shopping, this week seemed to zoom right on by. Of course, a photographer's work is never done, since I'll be heading out for another session this afternoon and putting in print order this week! I did manage to avoid the crazy shopping for the most part - minus the hour I sat in the fabric store Friday night waiting for my number to get called... but that is pretty much the ONLY shopping that I do on that crazy day! The Holiday season is coming on us FAST, and it will be so weird when 2012 sneaks it's way in. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your families :)

"let's do 52" - wk 46

It has reached the Holiday time of year, and in past years it would have been insane! There would have been school projects to finish, portrait sessions to do, editing, printing and shopping for Christmas all at the same time. Well, since I've graduated, a huge chunk of that has been taken off my shoulders, and I've decided to spend this year making quite a few of my holiday gifts for friends and siblings. So far, so good, with the help of pinterest being an inspiration, I've found some new things to try out to help keep me busy the next few weeks!

I've got 3 sessions lined up so far this week, with hopefully a few more to come between the rainstorms! And lucky for me, I'm not a big black friday shopper. You won't find me out there at midnight hitting the malls!

"let's do 52" - week 45

This past Friday was another one of those "big ticket" wedding days, with it being 11-11-11 and all. Instead of being out and about shooting a wedding, I was actually attending one!
My colorguard "big sister" from high school tied the knot on a very wet and rainy friday. Weather and crazy bay area traffic aside, the day couldn't be more perfect for the two of them to start the rest of their lives together. Weddings are such great events, full of love, reminisce, and an all around fantastic time! No wonder why I love the industry I am in so much :)

"let's do 52" - wk44

The day has come and gone, and I survived. No, not a terribly monumental birthday like turning 18 or 21. Yesterday I had the big 2-3, and spent it pretty simply. Kicked off the day at a marching band competition (the exact same one I spent my 17th birthday performing at) watching my sister compete. The latter part of the evening was spent with good friends, good food, and having an all around good time. Pretty simple birthday if you ask me, but sometimes that is all that a birthday needs to be :)

"let's do 52" - wk43

Between editing, ordering prints, skype calls & making plans for WPPI 2012, this week had time for very few other things. Most of that involving Halloween costume finishing, birthday party planning & homecoming dress accessory shopping. At the end, there was finally time for some down time with the popular three year old & her brother, who was apparently not a fan of yesterday at all. There was present wrapping, goldfish eating, picture taking, toy story watching & fancy princess bun making. Well, that and some "the cat came up behind me" terror, but she lived to tell the tale. Made for an eventful weekend day, that's for sure!

"let's do 52" - wk42

Just from the look of my car, I think it's pretty safe to say the seasons are finally changing! The leaves are turning color and falling, and there has been a few days where I can actually pull my boots out and wear them. Along with seasonal changes, there have been some other business changes that I'm excited to share as soon as they're ready to go! Things are looking to turn for the better at the start of 2012, and I can't wait to move forward with my current as well as new supporters. Thanks to everyone that has supported so far, and I can't wait for the new changes to keep on coming!

"let's do 52" - wk41

What an eventful week this has been! The weekdays alone lent themselves to a bit more craziness than usual. Tuesday was the first cake smash session I have done in years, and Thursday brought print picking up and delivering. Friday I recieved the AWESOME enlargements for my family group of 16, and then there was Saturday. It started off with a dance demo out in North Highlands, followed by the wedding of Mikaela & Tommaso in Sacramento, and then back to Loomis for the annual Band Spectacular competition. They did their annual light show performance (now only done at Spectacular & the Homecoming football game) and it was just as fun to watch as it was to participate those years ago! Now that Saturday has been survived, it's now on to editing, editing, editing so that the blog can keep rolling on!

"let's do 52" - wk40

Something about getting mail makes me happy. Not just email - since I get more advertisements and junk in that than real people talking to me - but actual open from the envelope mail. This week, the mail came and something that should have come ages ago was finally here! My diploma finally came, and I could now rest easy knowing that college was actually done with! Hopefully this next week will bring some exciting mail as well. Who wants to be pen pals? :)

"let's do 52" - wk39

Yeah, I know that 2010 is SO last year, but after putting it off, and putting it off, and putting it off... you get the idea... I finally got around to ordering my book of 365 photos! I had a super deal from blurb that I couldn't pass up, and less than a week later, it showed up on my doorstep. You can tell it's mine just by the cover, can't you? ;) Here is a peek inside to some of my favorite memory pages!
Kitties! Yep, last year we had SEVEN cats - eight if you count the outdoor late night "feed me" cat - so it worked perfectly for an entire week of photos. Although, they aren't exactly the greatest models... As the saying goes, it's like herding cats. Two of the weeks from Kasey's visit home from Germany. Also when we went and saw Toy Story 3 at the Drive-Ins.If any section of the book was "me" in three topics or less, this would be it. Photography, Chipotle, and Oreo Sundaes. Okay, I'm more than three words, but this is a pretty delicious set of photos. The photo of text is an exerpt from a biography on Mr. Rogers. I knew I always liked that man :)

"let's do 52" - wk38

Not a whole lot going on this week, that's for sure. A lot of driving, regular amounts of working, and not enough time spent shooting! Although, I did find myself in front of the camera this week for a friend of mine, so I guess we'll have to see if any of those photos turned out. In the mean time, have a fabulous weekend, and I hope to have some new things up for you to see soon!

"let's do 52" - wk37

After a week that included two weddings, a model shoot and what felt like a whole lot of editing and planning going on, it was nice to have a saturday to just relax. I was on munchkin duty for a while, and as always, very entertained by their simple ways. Lorelai was VERY determined to have cereal once we got back to my house, and as soon as we got there, she got her wishes! A day to recharge just in time to head off on to next week full of a little bit more of everything!

"let's do 52" - wk36

This week has had a large wedding theme to it, and I am not complaining! Between recieving save the date and wedding invites from two very important people from my high school years about their weddings, plus the engagement session for my first bride & groom booking for 2012 this past thursday, I am beyond pumped! Not to mention that in an hour or so, I'll be heading off to Tahoe again for another second shooting extravaganza with Doug. Have I mentioned how much I love my job? Right now, I'm on cloud 9! Have a fabulous weekend everyone :)

"let's do 52" - wk 35

A photo that, of course, really had nothing to do with ANYTHING, but hey... it is what it is! And when a super adorable almost 7 year old says "you should take a picture of that goose" well, I couldn't help but comply with her suggestion! I'm happy to say that with the push and inspiration of some of my photographer friends I met in Vegas last February (Kelliana, Alej & Katie) I am working up to taking the plunge to have a more professional image for the Freeze Frame branding! I will make everyone VERY aware of it when it happens, so I'm sure you won't miss it ;) This self made logo has served me well since 2009, but the times are a changing, and especially after this week and seeing my next two weeks broadcasted on my calendar, I feel that good things might be coming my way! So stay tuned for new blog posts with sessions in the coming weeks, including that almost seven year old who is a very persuasive little one!

"let's do 52" - wk 33

I've been trying to find thing to keep me busy and AWAY from the computer for large amounts of time during the day.  It was getting pretty bad, I'm not going to lie.  I started with planning just one craft project to start off with and have rolled out a list of nearly a dozen.  OY!  So far, so good.  On top of that, I've been trying to keep up with my Potter reading.  Leisure time is turning in to crazy time!

"let's do 52" - wk32

This past week feels like a whirlwind of events starting from last Saturday onward.  Day by day, it went from recital portraits, to second shooting in South Lake Tahoe, to smug mug meet ups, to hanging out at the post office to mail prints to clients.  Wednesday, dad and I took the day and headed out to the WPPI Road Trip in San Jose.  A mini version of the trip we took to Vegas last February, I was hoping to bring something home (in my brain) that I could bring to my business.  I'm pretty excited to say that I brought MORE than one thing home in my brain, as well as physically.  At one of the booths, I signed up for a mailing list and was able to bring this friend home with me.  A fun stuffed animal version of the "what the duck?" comic strip now resides next to my computer to keep me company while I take my new knowledge of how to speed up my editing workflow in lightroom (that means a potentially faster processing time for you clients!)
